Palliative &
End of Life Care

Supporting pets — honoring their journey — caring for families

At Dr. B Integrative Veterinary Care, we understand that caring for an aging or seriously ill companion is one of the most emotional and meaningful responsibilities a family can face.

Our goal is to walk beside you — helping your pet remain comfortable, supported, and loved for as long as quality of life can be maintained.

We do not provide euthanasia services.
When appropriate, we work closely with your regular veterinarian (RDVM) and any specialists involved to ensure your pet’s care remains coordinated and compassionate.

Our focus is comfort. Connection. Dignity. Peace.

What Is Palliative/Comfort Care?

Palliative care is specialized veterinary support designed to:

  • Reduce pain and discomfort

  • Support mobility and daily function

  • Ease stress and anxiety

  • Improve appetite, sleep, and emotional wellness

  • Maintain dignity and quality of life

  • Support families in decision-making and caregiving

Palliative care is appropriate for:

  • Senior pets

  • Pets with chronic illness

  • Pets living with cancer

  • Neurologic disease and mobility decline

  • Back pain, arthritis, and muscle weakness

  • Organ disease, metabolic illness, and “frailty syndrome”

  • Pets recovering from or no longer pursuing aggressive treatment plans

This care can begin months — or even years — before end of life, and may transition as needs change.

Integrative Tools We Use to Support Comfort

We combine integrative therapies to gently relieve discomfort and promote whole-body balance.

Acupuncture

Supports pain relief, relaxation, mobility, and overall comfort.

Tui-Na (Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork)

Promotes circulation, reduces muscle tightness, and supports joint function.

Herbal Medicine

Thoughtfully chosen herbal formulas help address inflammation, mobility, digestion, anxiety, pain, and organ support.

Laser Therapy

Decreases pain and inflammation while promoting tissue repair.

MagnaWave / PEMF

Uses pulsed electromagnetic fields to improve comfort, mobility, and healing.

Shockwave (when appropriate)

A non-invasive therapy used to support chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Homeopathy

Gentle, individualized support for symptom relief and emotional balance.

Nutraceuticals & Supplements

Including joint support, immune support, senior support, and metabolic balance — chosen carefully for safety and benefit.

Each treatment plan is individualized. We continually reassess comfort, response, and goals as your pet’s needs evolve.

Working Together With Your Regular Veterinarian

Comfort care is most effective when everyone works as a team. We collaborate closely with your pet’s RDVM regarding:

  • Pain management plans

  • Medication coordination

  • Diagnostic monitoring

  • Quality-of-life discussions

  • Transitions in care

  • Euthanasia planning when that time comes

Our role is supportive, not replacement care.

Quality-of-Life Conversations
We provide gentle, honest guidance to help you understand:

  • What signs of comfort or decline may look like

  • How to evaluate "good days" and "hard days"

  • When adjustments may help

  • When it may be time to talk about euthanasia with your RDVM

Our goal is never to rush decisions — but to help ensure that each day your pet has remains meaningful and comfortable.

Supporting Families Too

This time can feel overwhelming — emotionally, physically, and spiritually. We are here to:

  • Listen

  • Guide

  • Support

  • Educate

And to remind you that you are doing your very best for someone you love.

We Are Honored to Walk This Path With You

If you believe your pet may benefit from comfort-focused care, we invite you to schedule a consultation. Together, we will create a gentle plan designed around your pet’s needs, your goals, and what matters most.
